First Annual Workwell for Warriors Charity Event

Last Thursday, Workwell hosted our first ever charity event for Hope for the Warriors foundation. First off, we want to thank all of our sponsors, raffle donors, and those who attended our event. We can’t thank you enough for your support and generosity. Because of you, Workwell for Warriors exceeded our fundraising goal and raised over $8,000 for this notable charity! Earlier this summer, Workwell announced a formal partnership with Hope for the Warriors and ran in their Big Apple Run for the Warriors. We took our efforts to the next level and hosted an event that is solely dedicated to raising money for this charity. Our team filled the room with colleagues, clients, coworkers, and vendors for an open bar, bites, raffle, silent auction and so much more fun! The photo booth was a fan favorite; photos can be viewed here. We were honored to have a veteran, who has directly benefited from Hope for […]

Workwell’s Favorite Day of the Year!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – our Annual Company Outing! Each year, we try to plan a fun, unforgettable day outside the office for our employees. We do this as a small thank you to all of our employees for all that they do throughout the year. It is always nice to spend time together in a casual, non-office setting (despite our love of being surrounded by office furniture). This year, we packed up the bus with our employees and bagels and left Manhattan to enjoy a day at Minerals Resort in Vernon, NJ! Upon our arrival at Minerals Resort, we were greeted by the staff from United EVENTures for lawn game Olympics! We were divided into 4 teams and competed in a few different events that consisted of: corn hole, oversize jenga, ladder toss, and more! The rain unfortunately kept us inside but that didn’t stop everyone’s competitive spirits from coming out. […]

The Path to Leadership Through Mentoring

Guest Post Written By: Scott Lesizza, Principal at Workwell Partners If you think you can afford to start your professional career off without a mentor then do so. However, be warned that you may have to repeatedly start from scratch, fork out a lot of money and go through the same mistakes that others have already endured. If I could do it over again, I would have done everything I could to identify someone who cared enough to offer guidance. I was young and fresh out of college without a clear plan of what I wanted to do. I come from a blue collar background – my dad was a chef and my mom was a stay-at-home mom – so the reality was I did not have a clue as to how to go about working my way up the career ladder to a leadership position. I still thought I knew it all, but I […]

Balance of Fun & Productivity – Management Sets the Tone

Guest Post Written By: Scott Lesizza, Principal at Workwell Partners When you’re looking to strike a balance between fun and productivity in the workplace, it’s important to realize that management sets the tone. When you are an executive looking to inspire and spark creativity, you get way more from your team if you are in the trenches with them. The end goal in creating a relaxed work environment is for people to enjoy where they spend most of their day, by being happier, getting more work done, becoming more loyal employees and spreading the word to others, and ultimately producing better work. Most C-Suite executives that we speak with prefer to maintain their full floor-to-ceiling glass offices with an open door policy and a willingness to engage their people ‘on the floor.’ The open door policy extends to allowing their private offices to be used for various purposes, including mini conference rooms and often multi-occupancy […]

NeoCon Trend 3 – The New Workstations

It’s undeniable that over the past few years, workstations have dramatically evolved and changed in the furniture world. Whether it was the move towards smaller “bench” stations or the introduction and later explosion of height adjustable desks, the way that the commercial interiors industry has approached the way we work. At this year’s NeoCon Showcase, this idea of the ever-changing workstation was as present as ever. Standing Height Surfaces It’s no secret that height adjustable desks have been having a “moment” for the past few years. That in itself wasn’t necessarily a trend this year, but rather the prominence of fixed worksurfaces that were at standing height. These standing height stations allow people to perch while working, and offer a way for users to change their postures. Haworth had several great examples of this throughout their space – from their “Immerse” standing height conference table (below left) to their new “Sidecar” standing height workstation (below center), both […]

NeoCon 2016 Trend: “Unfinished” Business

As far as clichés go, “the devil is in the details” is one of the most commonly used, as well as one of my favorites. When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, the most minute of things can often have the biggest impact. I found at NeoCon this year, this was as true as ever before. One of the most common examples was the “unfinished” edges found everywhere from conference tables to workstations. Allermuir’s line of standing height tables, “Silta”, showcased how a simple unfinished edge could integrate seamlessly with polished aluminum, laminate and wood detailing: In Vitra’s Showroom, their “Joyn” Conference Table brought together a dark surface and black legs with a light, unfinished edge: The “Truss Benching System” from West Elm Workspace mixes a comfortable, residential feel with the clean lines and simplistic finishes many designers love: Neinkamper’s “Nomad Flexibility Workspace” and “Vox” Conferencing provide another stellar example of the unfinished edges, this […]

Top NeoCon 2016 Trends: #1

Another year, another awesome NeoCon Showcase in Chicago. With so many interesting showrooms to stop by, it was a marathon few days for our team exploring new products, discovering prominent trends, and meeting up with industry friends and colleagues. More so than ever, we found that many different manufacturers subscribed to the same trends, or as our own Principal Scott Lesizza puts it: “it’s as if the contract furniture Illuminati got together earlier this year“. We found several trends thrown to the forefront of the showcase and over the next few days, we will be sharing them with you right here on our blog- complete with photos and our firsthand take on what we thought was most impactful. So – what trend is up first? Color. Pantone Colors of the Year Pantone is the standard for color in industries from interior design, fashion, and art. Each year they crown their “Color of the Year” […]

7th Annual Big Apple Run For The Warriors

At the end of April, Workwell Partners formed a team for the 7th Annual Big Apple Run For The Warriors which benefits Hope For The Warriors foundation. This past Sunday, two of our team members hit the pavement in the Financial District and ran 3 miles for this great cause. Founded aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in 2006, this national nonprofit organization’s mission is to restore self, family, and hope to service members, their families, and families of the fallen through many different programs. The main focus of the different programs is about transition services, clinical health and wellness, as well as sports and recreation. This year marks their tenth anniversary of serving those who served. Over the past month and half, our team raised $795 for Hope for the Warriors. To give a breakdown of where our donation goes, here are some stats: $10 provides a meal to a service member at a […]

Yesterday, our team was treated to lunch and met the lovely ladies from Poppin! From design to delivery, this company seems to be on to something. To quote their presentation, they are “simply different.” Based in NYC (and quickly expanding!), Poppin is a one-stop shop from your desk accessories to your actual desk and chair. All of which are very easily modified to fit the space that they are in and the people they are servicing. Aside from their products, Poppin prides themselves on their smart engineering, easy ordering, unrivaled pricing, affordable installation, fast shipping, and certified quality.
