Wellness in the Workplace with Workwell Partners

This past Wednesday, Workwell Partners along with the International WELL Building Institute came together to bring NYC’s design community a continued education unit (CEU) class called, “Wellness in the Workplace.” The event was hosted at Fisher & Paykel’s Experience Center located in the A&D Building and featured a healthy mix of Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as salmon gremolata and smoked hummus, which were prepared by in-house chef, Tageré Southwell. The evening’s class consisted of two parts. The first was presented by Vice President of Global Business Development, Stephen Brown, who introduced the basic building blocks of WELL, walking attendees from its origins to case studies and WELL certified projects. To learn more about the WELL building standard, you can read our previous posts about it: Wellness in the Workplace or Our Night With The WELL Building Standard. The second part of the CEU was presented by Workwell Partner’s very own LEED Designer and Account Liaison, Jesús […]

Another Year, Another Neocon!

Neocon, Neocon, Neocon…. How we love thee! This year’s showcase did not disappoint and we are sad to have seen it fly by so fast. As always, we had our eyes peeled for the latest trends in furniture and found three prominent commonalities throughout the show. Colors + Finishes For the past view years, we’ve been noticing that blue and pink keep popping up throughout the showrooms and from rich navy to dusty rose, this year was no exception. Cool neutrals ruled many of the showrooms, seen in the workstations at HBF (1) to seating at Andreu World (2). OFS Brands (3) and Group Lacasse (4) had some more of our favorites in this “cool trend”. It was also hard not to notice the warm wood tone finishes – found nearly everywhere from Haworth’s benching (1) to Allermuir’s new lines of credenzas (2, 3). We loved seeing how even the lightest of wood finish whether […]

Workwell for Warriors Update

This time last year our team adopted Hope for the Warriors as our official charity. Since then we’ve participated in their Big Apple Runs, hosted our own event for them, and held collections in our office to support those who are in the program. You can read more about this charity and our past involvement with them on our Workwell for Warriors page here. In the past few months, there are two events that we participated in that support this charity. The first being a school supply collection. We collected backpacks and school supplies for those families who benefit from the program. This collection was done in the spring instead of the fall so that Hope for the Warriors could distribute these supplies to the families in the program over the summer in time for the start of school! We sent two full boxes of supplies down to families in the North Carolina area. We […]

Full Steam Ahead: A Night of Networking with CoreNet

As the weather gets warmer here in New York, it’s time for us to enjoy some of our favorite local events and networking parties. Last Thursday, our team and our guests enjoyed another wonderful evening at the New York City Chapter of CoreNet’s Annual Dinner. Once again, attendance was at a record high for the sold-out event on the iconic Intrepid Museum on the Hudson River in Manhattan. Some of our favorite highlights include the Design Competition, the fun Photo Booth, and the beautiful new lounge areas. Check out our recaps and photos below! Design Competition In it’s second year, the Annual Dinner Design Competition was an exciting success for the event. The goal of the Design Competition was to give CoreNet NYC Members a platform to express their creativity by interpreting the annual theme and showcasing their submittals at the chapter’s biggest event of the year. With this year’s theme of Global Connections, each participant was […]

DIFFA’s Dining by Design with M Moser

Our team had a great time supporting and attending DIFFA by Design’s Annual Gala, Dining by Design, with M Moser last week. The basis of this event is that DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) invites designers to create unique dining areas for their guests.  DIFFA’s Annual event is co-located with the Architectural Digest Design Show at Pier 92 in New York City to raise money to fight against HIV/AIDS. M Moser’s dining area had an exceptional story that they explain below: “Using design to visualize information, M Moser Associate’s Dinning by Design installation highlights the contrast between past stereotypes and statistics around HIV/AIDS and the most current data reported by the UN AIDS Organization. Through the use of various techniques, materiality and technology, the installation is meant to draw out a visceral human connection to evoke accountability to one another. With current treatments having transformed a positive HIV diagnosis from a death sentence into a […]

First Annual Workwell for Warriors Charity Event

Last Thursday, Workwell hosted our first ever charity event for Hope for the Warriors foundation. First off, we want to thank all of our sponsors, raffle donors, and those who attended our event. We can’t thank you enough for your support and generosity. Because of you, Workwell for Warriors exceeded our fundraising goal and raised over $8,000 for this notable charity! Earlier this summer, Workwell announced a formal partnership with Hope for the Warriors and ran in their Big Apple Run for the Warriors. We took our efforts to the next level and hosted an event that is solely dedicated to raising money for this charity. Our team filled the room with colleagues, clients, coworkers, and vendors for an open bar, bites, raffle, silent auction and so much more fun! The photo booth was a fan favorite; photos can be viewed here. We were honored to have a veteran, who has directly benefited from Hope for […]

Workwell’s Favorite Day of the Year!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – our Annual Company Outing! Each year, we try to plan a fun, unforgettable day outside the office for our employees. We do this as a small thank you to all of our employees for all that they do throughout the year. It is always nice to spend time together in a casual, non-office setting (despite our love of being surrounded by office furniture). This year, we packed up the bus with our employees and bagels and left Manhattan to enjoy a day at Minerals Resort in Vernon, NJ! Upon our arrival at Minerals Resort, we were greeted by the staff from United EVENTures for lawn game Olympics! We were divided into 4 teams and competed in a few different events that consisted of: corn hole, oversize jenga, ladder toss, and more! The rain unfortunately kept us inside but that didn’t stop everyone’s competitive spirits from coming out. […]

NeoCon Trend 3 – The New Workstations

It’s undeniable that over the past few years, workstations have dramatically evolved and changed in the furniture world. Whether it was the move towards smaller “bench” stations or the introduction and later explosion of height adjustable desks, the way that the commercial interiors industry has approached the way we work. At this year’s NeoCon Showcase, this idea of the ever-changing workstation was as present as ever. Standing Height Surfaces It’s no secret that height adjustable desks have been having a “moment” for the past few years. That in itself wasn’t necessarily a trend this year, but rather the prominence of fixed worksurfaces that were at standing height. These standing height stations allow people to perch while working, and offer a way for users to change their postures. Haworth had several great examples of this throughout their space – from their “Immerse” standing height conference table (below left) to their new “Sidecar” standing height workstation (below center), both […]

NeoCon 2016 Trend: “Unfinished” Business

As far as clichés go, “the devil is in the details” is one of the most commonly used, as well as one of my favorites. When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, the most minute of things can often have the biggest impact. I found at NeoCon this year, this was as true as ever before. One of the most common examples was the “unfinished” edges found everywhere from conference tables to workstations. Allermuir’s line of standing height tables, “Silta”, showcased how a simple unfinished edge could integrate seamlessly with polished aluminum, laminate and wood detailing: In Vitra’s Showroom, their “Joyn” Conference Table brought together a dark surface and black legs with a light, unfinished edge: The “Truss Benching System” from West Elm Workspace mixes a comfortable, residential feel with the clean lines and simplistic finishes many designers love: Neinkamper’s “Nomad Flexibility Workspace” and “Vox” Conferencing provide another stellar example of the unfinished edges, this […]
